the Rock: the Designer Drugs (9:00 pm)
from upstate NY, y'know, the country.....

The Designer Drugs are a high energy Glam Punkabilly combo from upstate NY whos take no prisoners live show will leave you stunned and wanting more.

Try to put a label on The Designer Drugs' music, and you'll probably end up scratching your head. The five members of the band take influence from across the board, making their music a cross between Johnny Cash, Blondie and the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Influenced by glam, punk, 50s rock n' roll, and with a genuine acknowledgment for their roots, the Drugs write music to satisfy themselves 1st. In turn, the sound takes a radical departure from the current themes in music, and defies classification in any era. To fully experience The Designer Drugs, it's necessary to see them perform live. When this five-piece takes the stage, its electric. Every show is high energy, their presence is undeniable, no matter if the crowd consists of 200 or 20. Formed in late 2005, last year the band played more than 50 shows in the Nor East while twins Geoff (drums) and Al (upright bass) still attended high school full time. Fast forward to spring 2007, the band has just finished recording their 2nd ep, returning stronger than ever after the original singer abruptly quit on new years, and was soon followed by the rhythm guitarist. Today, lead guitar duties are shared by the stylistically different Rodney and Tim. The vocals have been taken over by the colorful and animated Miss Emily Dee. With a diverse vocal range, she gets down and dirty with the rest of the boys. More about the Designer Drugs....

The Rock: Super Potent Death Baby (9:45 pm)
whiskey fueled rock and roll

Super Potent Death Baby first popped outta it's mommy's snooch in 2005 by two freaks from Long Island. Suzy the Fox met Jimmy the Weed (ex-Kill Your Idols drummer) after catching a T.S.O.L. show at CBGB's. The two hit it off, discussing Led Zeppelin and making fun of people over shots of whiskey at a local bar on the L.E.S. They crossed paths again several months later at a Motorhead show and Suzy demanded that Jim be the drummer in her up and coming band, after hearing from a mutual friend he was a drummer. After completing his prior commitment to a 3 week tour of Germany with the The Hudson Falcons (whom he briefly drummed for) he was ready to rock. Upon JTW's return, the terrible two-some met with guitarist Nick the Greek, from L.I. punk band, The Clap. His stint in the band would be short lived and after 6 months of the 3 playing together, there was a mutual agreement to part ways with The Greek. STF and JTW worked together as a 2-piece for a year, continuing to write songs and recording a demo to help find a guitarist. Getting someone was a problem, as they were unable to find a good match to the music and their minds. 2007 would be a different story. Enter Pete the Meeeeet, a guitarist STF and JTW had their sights on for awhile. Exactly one year after their departure with their first guitarist, Pete decided to step up to the plate. So far so awesome. Super Potent Death Baby has 3 members who play, think and party alike and Pete's contribution to the band has taken the music into a killer place. The trio is complete. Stay tuned for SPDB's upcoming 7"....

The Rock: Breakup Breakdown (11:15 pm)
Cordless Recordings artists....

BREAKUP BREAKDOWN is the new face of dance rock. Combining the swagger of 60s garage bands with the cold blood of 80s post-punk, and marrying the result with immediate melodies and insistent beats, BREAKUP BREAKDOWN get the kids moving - even in the clubs of New York City's infamously pretentious Lower East Side. Based out of Brooklyn, Jamie [vocals], Allie [vocals and keys], Jeff [guitar], Wyatt [bass], and Drew [drums] play with a flair that's entirely their own. BREAKUP BREAKDOWN's EPs, She Went Black and Tonight, are now available from Cordless Recordings.
